7 Days to Die Beginner Guide

Everything you need to join the Couch community in 7 Days to Die.

Get 7 Days to Die

You need to own and install 7 Days to Die.

🖥️ Recommended version: PC — Steam Edition

Console players may be able to join only if the server supports crossplay, but PC/Steam is the simplest setup for most players.

Install the Game

Open Steam.

Go to your Library.

Search for 7 Days to Die.

Click Install.

Wait for the game to finish downloading.

Launch 7 Days to Die

Once the game is installed:

Click Play in Steam.

Let the game fully load.

From the main menu, choose Join Game.

The first launch may take a little longer than normal. That is expected.

Make Sure Your Game Is Updated

Before joining the server, make sure your game is fully updated. In Steam:

Right-click 7 Days to Die.

Click Properties.

Go to Updates.

Make sure automatic updates are enabled.
⚠️ If your game version does not match the server version, you may not be able to connect.

Go to Join Game

From the main menu:

Click Join Game.

Wait for the server browser to load.

Use the search/filter options to find the community server.

Server information will be added here later.

Add the Server

When server details are available, enter the server information provided by the moderators.

Server Name: Coming Soon
Server Address: Coming Soon
Password: Coming Soon, if needed

Then connect to the server.

Create Your Character

Before entering the world, you may be asked to create or confirm your character. You can customize your character however you like.

Do not worry about making the "perfect" character. You can learn the game as you go.

Join the World

Once you connect, the game will place you into the world. When you first spawn:

Do not panic.

Check your inventory.

Follow the starting tutorial quests.

Look for instructions from the moderators.

Ask for help in Discord if you are lost.

7 Days to Die can feel confusing at first. That is normal.

Beginner Survival Tips

When you first join, focus on the basics:

Gather grass, wood, stone, and small materials.

Craft your first basic tools.

Watch your food and water.
4
Avoid wandering too far alone.

Do not fight every zombie you see.

Find shelter before night.

Ask the group before taking supplies from shared bases.

The goal is not to be perfect. The goal is to survive, learn, and have fun with the community.

Community Rules

Please follow the community rules while playing.

Be respectful to other players.

Do not grief, steal, or destroy other players' bases.

Do not lure zombies into someone else's base on purpose.

Do not exploit, cheat, or duplicate items.

Ask before using shared supplies.

Help new players when you can.

Keep the game fun for everyone.

Moderator decisions are final.

Blood Moon Warning

Every 7 days, the game triggers a major zombie attack called a Blood Moon Horde. During Blood Moon:

Zombies become much more aggressive.

They will attack player bases.

You should not be wandering alone.
4
You should listen to group instructions.

New players should stay with the community if possible.
🩸 If you are brand new, ask where to go before Blood Moon starts.

Need Help?

If you get stuck, die, lose your bag, cannot connect, or do not know what to do next, ask for help in Discord.

When asking for help, include:

Your in-game name.

What happened.

Where you are, if you know.

A screenshot, if possible.

A Moderator or community member will help when available.
